He loves people, words, exploring, water and art. He has a strong connection with Queensland having visited Brisbane and parts of regional Queensland many times. His work at the Library will include advising as to the Library's resources, visiting Churches, conducting workshops and mentoring people. He has written a poem especially for Queensland which is below. Sunshine Harvest for Queensland O God who birthed this country From Cape to Reef to Tweed Give us a sunshine harvest More glorious than our dreams.
O Lord of harvest plentiful We see the crowds and cry Send labourers into your harvest So others will not die.
O Christ who reigns victorious Rule us as we sow Give us great faith for a harvest In the face of a weed-planting foe.
O Spirit of truth and power Convict and call we plead So the earth will be filled with your glory As the waters cover the sea.
O God of coal and cattle Of city, surf and range Give us a sunshine harvest With hope for fear exchanged.

Jim French - Emerging Adulthood and the need for Cultural Engagement |
|
Oct 5 Cost: Plastic note entry Place: Mathew Hale Public Library (160 Vulture St, South Brisbane) Time: 7:30pm - 9:00pm
Jim French will also be giving a lecture in the evening on "Emerging Adulthood and the need for Cultural Engagement".
Over the last 40 years there has emerged a new life stage between adolescence and adulthood. It has been named emerging adulthood. At best it has given young people the privilege of further study, travel, and time to mature and worst it appears to be an extension of adolescences well into the late twenties, early thirties.
The evening lecture will address this issue and put forward some recommendations for the church family in order to make the most of this opportunity that has been afforded to our young people. |
