This year’s Ridley College Melbourne’s Leon Morris Lecture, ‘Pray Without Ceasing’: Lessons in Prayer from the Thessalonian Letters will be delivered by Dr Andrew Malone and will be livestreamed.
Andrew will explore the role of prayer in the two letters written to the Thessalonians by Paul and his missionary team. Arguably more than in any other Pauline correspondence, prayer dictates the shape of these writings. Many of the prayers are offered as models for next-generation believers to emulate, especially the prayers of thankfulness. They provide us with clear evidence of how the earliest Christians readily addressed their prayers to Jesus as well as to God.
There will be a question-and-answer session at the end of the lecture as we reflect on this relevant and essential topic.
Following the lecture, we will host two special book launches! The first book, Cambridge Companion to the Apostolic Fathers, is a new book edited by Ridley faculty members Michael Bird and Scott Harrower. The second book, Living to the Praise of God’s Glory, is written by Mark Simon, who recently completed his PhD at Ridley.
