Revd Dr Graham Stanton, Mathew Hale Public Library Ministry Advisor and the Dean of the Centre for Children’s and Youth Ministry and Lecturer in Practical Theology at Ridley College in Melbourne will conduct a practical workshop on leading Anglican marriage services. The seminar is offered to students in formation, clergy, and any who are involved in marriage preparation and pastoral care of newly married couples.
Session 1: "This holy union"
The first session will discuss and Anglican theology of marriage drawing from the prayer book and the Scriptures. In light of what we believe marriage is, we'll consider how best to prepare couples to be "joined in this holy union".
Session 2: The Wedding Day and Beyond
The second session will work through the marriage service in APBA, and consider the spiritual and pastoral logic of the service. We will consider what it means for a congregation to support the newly married couple in their prayer for God's blessing on their marriage.
