The celebration of Alex's life on Friday, 29 September, was a time of deep sadness and of gospel conviction. The sermon and prayers from that service offer the sure hope found in the biblical message of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection.

With deep sadness we regret to announce that Alex Crawford, founder and secretary of the Mathew Hale Public Library, died on Saturday, 23 September.
Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.”
“Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.” (Revelation 14:13)
What if Christian Ministry was really Complex?
That might seem like a fairly obvious question. If complex means “consisting of many different and connected parts” then of course Christian ministry is complex! There’s preaching and evangelism and pastoral care and morning tea rosters and child safety training and small groups and leadership training and community outreach and workplace health and safety and overseas mission support and parish council and on and on and on. Perhaps a better question is what is there about Christian ministry that isn’t complex!

I read an interesting article the other day about ‘entitled teenagers’ - young people who “feel like the world owes them everything and parents exist to please and meet their teenagers’ every desire and whim. These entitled teenagers are resistant to parental authority, demanding, and often unable to manage failure or disappointment”.
